IPL 2022: Match 10, GT vs DC Match Prediction – Who will win today’s IPL match between GT vs DC?

Both teams will be eyeing a second straight win.

Preview

The Gujarat Titans will be locking horns with the Delhi Capitals in Match 10 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 2. Both teams will be heading into this clash after having registered impressive wins in their respective season openers. GT kicked off their campaign with a five-wicket win against the other new entrants Lucknow Super Giants while the Capitals got the better of Mumbai Indians by four wickets.

GT were outstanding with both the bat and the ball as they applied brakes on LSG’s momentum right from the word ‘go’. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami rattled the top-order with the new ball in hand and if not for the middle-order trio Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya’s crucial knocks, Lucknow would have struggled to even post a respectable total on the board. Gujarat also proved that they have a solid batting line-up that is capable enough to take the game away from any opposition.

Delhi’s bowlers, especially Kuldeep Yadav seem to be peaking at the right time as they restricted MI to a manageable total of 177/5 despite an 81* off 48 by Ishan Kishan. Their batters did dominate the proceedings, but DC can take confidence from the fact that they have a strong lower-order that can be relied upon during crunch situations as Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel took them home with an unbeaten 75-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Pitch Report

The Pune wicket offers a lot of assistance to the batters and a run-fest can be expected on this flat wicket. The pacers are expected to get hardly any purchase from the surface but the spinners can make the most from this as it is rough. However, chasing is really easy on this wicket if the side has all its wickets intact. Therefore, the captain winning the toss will decide to bowl first.

Probable Playing XIs for Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Capitals

Gujarat Titans

Shubman Gill, Matthew Wade (wk), Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Aaron, Mohammed Shami

Delhi Capitals

Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, KS Bharat, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman/Lungi Ngidi

Probable Top Performers: Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia has time and again shown that he has the potential to play match-defining knocks in the middle order when the going gets tough. Tewatia might start slowly but has very good understanding and situational awareness and it is just a matter of time before he scores at a brisk rate once he gets set, thereby adding some vital runs in the middle and death overs. The southpaw took the match away from LSG with a fantastic knock of an unbeaten 40 off 24 deliveries. He would yet again be expected to play a whirlwind knock when he faces Delhi’s bowling line-up.

Probable best bowler of the match: Mohammed Shami

The DC batters must be very cautious while facing Mohammed Shami with the new ball. He completely took Lucknow Super Giants by surprise as he accounted for their top-order cheaply including skipper KL Rahul, who was sent back to the dugout for a golden duck to his name. Apart from that, Shami also cleaned up Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey and finished with brilliant figures of 3/25 from his four overs at an economy rate of 6.3. The senior pacer would be expected to come out all guns blazing against the Delhi Capitals.

Today’s Match Prediction: Delhi Capitals to win the match.
